Is Blogging Still a Thing?

Blogs were popular in the 90s and 2000s, when everyone who was anyone seemed to have one. With the rise of Facebook and Instagram everyone has access to their window of social media where they can gain follower, follow others, and most importantly rack up the likes. Yes, I have my instagram handle @prittyright and I have Facebook to keep up with my friends and see cool events. But do I really need a blog too?

Who is reading?

Does anyone visit a blog? If they do, they full of text and fluffy, self-indulgent essays? Sometimes, yes. The rest of the time people visit blogs because they are searchable, last longer than an IG post, and have more actual content. I visit Colin Haley’s blog site all the time, to get inspired by his most recent adventures. I go back to reference Chris Mutzel’s posts on places like Chamonix. And I enjoy Wayne’s posts and especially his traverses list.

Create useful content

Climbers looking for info on how to take a sabbatical might want to look at the 2020 the climbing sabbatical experiment. If you are looking for info on the climbing seasons for the alpine mecca the cascades this chart could be useful. I’ll be adding notes on our adventures as I get time between all the climbing and packing and unpacking that life is all about!
